I tell you, some bike companies have come a long way over the years & in the changing face of BMX, a company has to stay ahead of the pack to stay successful.
At the other end of the spectrum there is SE bikes, what the fuck is going on at their HQ?!? Did they hand the design brief over to Kays catalogue or Argos R&D or something!?!?
To think back to how Awe struck we were over SE racing Quads, PK's, Floval Flyers etc of olde, this is a fucking travesty. Scott Breithaupt must be pissed...

*update* here's the original Quad
well said subversive. SE Racing were easily the coolest and first rider owned bike companys out there. Theyre design and concepts were just so different to anyones elses. I remember they used to be my fave company, thats why I bought a quadangle. I was well stoked with their stuff.
ReplyDeleteNow it seems that whoever is designing theyre stuff is desperatly trying to keep that 'far out' image, which is totally so far out its totally shit. Its kinda like classic film remakes, just leave it alone, there is no point !

some of the re-make flovals look quite good, as in, almost like the old ones. The PKs are close but no match for the old ones. The quads, however, are awful! With that in mind ... a mate of mine is selling an orignal quad frame thats in real good conition. They dont often sell for more that a couple of hunred so if you wanna get a "real" quad, let me know

ReplyDeleteI mean it wasn't to long ago a few of you ( you know who you are ) were complaining that BMX fashion was making bikes all look the same, that form was becoming more of an issue than function, now SE have released this...... and you slat it..... for breaking away from the norm...

They could have done a better job on that quad though, it looks like a broken garage sign or something... I'm gonna update this thread with a picture of an original so a better comparison might be made...
