February 10, 2006 - Carlsbad, CA. In a joint statement issued today, newlyformed Mirraco LLC and Trek Bicycles announced they have entered into an agreement where by Trek will be granted exclusive worldwide distribution rights to Dave Mirra's new line of BMX bikes, bike components, and accessories.Jim Ford, Mirraco's President had this to say about the agreement, "Both Dave and I believe that a partnership with Trek allows each company to do what they do best. Mirraco will control product development, design and promotions out of our Carlsbad, California office, while Trek will handle sourcing, distribution, and sales"."With this agreement, we retain control in the areas of the business that we know and understand. Undoubtedly, one of the assets that we found most attractive in establishing a relationship with Trek is that they are regarded as the industry's biggest and best supplier to the independent bicycle retailer.""This is huge," Mirra said of Trek partnering with Mirraco. "It demonstrates that Mirraco is a serious company. With Jim's knowledge of the business,Trek's distribution strength, and the team we're putting together, we're going to come out of the gate strong. This deal motivates me more than ever to ride hard and represent the company to the fullest".Trek President John Burke added, "While Trek is a known leader in road and mountain bike sales, the one thing we can improve is our presence in the 20"category. Given Dave Mirra's success and his respect in the industry, his new line of bikes will offer our dealers and consumers a great new option in the 20" category. This agreement represents a win/win situation for Mirraco and Trek."For more information, contact: info@mirrabikeco.com
What's that on his top lip...?
hmmmm....doe's anybody remember the trek bmx's from a few years back? those real nice Y frame things!!! what a better way to start your own bike company.... fuck settin up on your own just sell yourself to the cheapest bidder..... can't wait for the hi tensile pro frames..... Dave Mirro for president I say!
ReplyDeleteYea man, when I read "one thing we can improve is our presence in the 20' category" I flipped back to their horrible, horrible, horrible frames they made in the late 90's/early 00's? Arg, they were so gross.
ReplyDeleteAnd Dave's fucking blatantly prepared statement "blah blah ride harder...company to the fullest...OUT THE GATE!!!???!?!" what the fuck. Ten fucking points to the man with the ad doctoring skils.
here here!
ReplyDeleteCOCK!
ReplyDeleteJust picked up on the "respect in the industry" bit too. Wanker! How's that for respect? Ok, so I might not technically be in the industry.....
And, it'd appear, the guys at trek make yet more money without having to do anything more than get their warehouse monkeys to shift a few more boxes around.
ARG. I still just can't quite get it. Like, the one slightly redeeming thing he could've done is sourced some actual bmx company to handle the distro, hell on earth, or one of them other companies in the states, and shiners/backyard/scoop/whoever over here...etc. So ok, you've gotta do a bit more work sorting out deals with different companies, rather than one big(sucky, band wagon jumping, lame-ass, no nothing) one. but at least your money's going... ARG RANT BLAH RANT BLAH RANT ARG BLEHM
I hope they don't make anything worth me buying, or I'll be pissed. Even more
I think it's aimed squarely at the Argos/ToysRus/Freemans catalogue/Halfords brigade dude. Theres a BIG market for BMX in the IGNORANCE sector!
ReplyDelete"My Kid Wants one of them BMX things & he loves Dave Mirra so I'll take that one"
one week later*
"look he was jumping off the curb outside our house & it just fell in half!"
how you like THEM apples Davey boy!?
Dude, that ruled
